Lesson 13: Final Rehearsal - Be ready next week!!

Next week and the week after are the days for the final 20x20 presentation! Achieve good communication!

1.    The classroom is our regular classroom in Building 12. Come on time!

2.    Each group will have about 10 minutes (6 min. 40s for 20x20 + 3 min. for Q&A). Let's decide the order today. 5 or 6 groups on each day.

3.    This final presentation is 30% of your EC grade, so prepare and practice well!
   20% = Group grade (5pts x 4 categories)
   10% = Individual grade (5pts x 3 categories)

4.    The requirements are very similar to Presentation No.1. An excellent presentation must have

Specific, interesting content from sources
(According to...). Mention AND indicate sources of data, news, ideas etc. on slides as much as possible.

Very attractive visuals (colorful, relevant images/graphs, big fonts of Size 60, less than 7 words on each slide, clear colors), and

Smooth, professional delivery with eye contact. You MUST speak with NO READING—Communicate! Smile Stand straight and use gestures for emphasizing your key words. You need to practice many times with the timer.

5.    Adjust your content and keep your sentences short and easy to understand, speaking not too fast. Avoid difficult words, or explain them if needed with pictures etc. Don't worry about grammar too much, but avoid careless mistakes by practicing together as a group. Check pronunciation using a dictionary. Online dictionaries have audio.
Communicate, communicate, communicate!

6.    Make sure you have a group rehearsal and practice 5 times together at least. Help each other improve! I recommend doing a rehearsal this weekend and also on Wed.

Also, do at least 5 personal rehearsals with NO NOTES until you can do it smoothly and professionally.

7.    Send your improved final, final PowerPoint file to me by Tuesday 1/24 if you are presenting on 1/26. I will check and make sure the file is working on my laptop. For other groups, by 1/31 is fine. Also, make sure you bring your file on a USB Memory. Bringing your own laptop may be possible, too, but check it in Room 1216.

8.    I will give extra points to groups that are creative. Try to wear matching clothes (like lab coats, suits, or other costumes). Try to have a dramatic INTRO (Example: Play BGM and show short video or high impact image and say "Hi everyone, Imagine...." or "Good morning everyone. Did you know...") Make it a good performance!

9.    Changing the 20x20 format a little is no problem, but please make sure you use the timer for rhythm and time management. Feel free to add a slide if you want, or to add a few seconds.

10. Q&A Time - All members must review and practice. The Conclusion person must lead the Q&A time, but the other members must take turns assisting with answers or saying "Do you have any questions?" Yes, Name, Go ahead" "That's a great question. We think..." or "That's a difficult question. We are not sure about that." "Any other questions?" "It looks like our time is almost up. Thank you very much for your attention, thank you!"

On the presentation days, I will take a video, just like before and you will be able to watch it if you like. Do your best to improve compared to your first presentation in the areas that you set as goals!

I will have rehearsals mostly with the groups that are going to present next week. If we have time, I will visit the groups for two weeks later.

See you in class! Mark
